Barbara Ryan is Founder of Barbara Ryan Advisors, a life sciences capital markets strategic advisory firm. Ms. Ryan was a Wall Street sell-side research analyst for thirty years covering the biopharmaceutical sector. She was a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank and Head of the Company’s Pharmaceutical Research Team for 19 years, and began her research career covering the Pharmaceutical industry at Bear Stearns in 1982. During her career as an analyst, Barbara was the lead analyst on many high profile IPO’s including Express Scripts, PSSI, Henry Schein, and Flamel Technologies.
After leaving sell-side research in 2012, Barbara formed Barbara Ryan Advisors and joined FTI Consulting as Managing Director to lead the firm’s Healthcare and Life Sciences Capital Markets practice in the Strategic Communications Division. Barbara has extensive long-tenured relationships with healthcare buy-side analysts and portfolio managers, sell-side analysts, investment bankers and the financial media. In her role as a consultant, Barbara has provided senior strategic counsel and tactical support for several of the highest profile deals in the biopharma industry, including Shire/Abbvie, Shire/Baxalta, and Allergan/Valeant. Barbara has led the IR/PR programs for Radius Health, the best performing IPO of 2014, and Eloxx Pharmaceuticals, a top performing IPO in 2018. Barbara has served as senior strategic investor relations counsel to Shire, Cardinal Health, Purdue, Zoetis, Radius Health, Eloxx, Esperion, ContraFect, Relypsa, and Syndax as well as Allergan, and Perrigo over the past six years.
Ms. Ryan’s opinions and expertise are widely sought; she is frequently quoted in the press and appears often on CNBC. Ms. Ryan is currently a member of the Gilda's Club NYC Board of Directors, Pharmaceutical Executive‘s Editorial Advisory Board, the Executive Advisory Board for the Prix Galien Foundation, and is a member of the Life Sciences Council of Springboard Enterprises, and a Faculty member at the GLG Institute. Barbara was the Chair of the Board of Villa Maria School, a school for children with learning disabilities, for the past 6 years.
