Inkemia IUCT Group, a high-tech company dedicated to research, development and knowledge innovation, decided to expand their commercialoperations by opening an office in Colombia as a result of contacts made atBiolatam 2013.
The CEO of Biópolis, Daniel Ramón, commenting on the increasing interest for its products in Latin América, said, “We have an agreement with Rosmi, importers of raw materials for the food and pharmaceutical industries. Probiotics are the ingredients which are attracting most attention.”
Javier Velasco, CEO of Neol Biosolutions, confirmed that they are looking for ways to implant their technology in the biofuels area. They recently signed an agreement with Colbiocel, their Colombian provider of agricultural raw materials, to work together to insert their technology into that market. Biolatam is where they have conducted “meetings with manufacturers in the industry,” said Velasco.
Xabier Abad, Product Manager at BTI Biotechnology Institute, became involved with Biolatam to increase their exposure in Latin America as part of an ongoing internationalization process.“We needed Latin America, we are looking at the market and listening to proposals, and in the short to medium term we want to set up a subsidiary in Brazil. We have already been negotiating agreements with Colombian and Peruvian companies, and are looking for collaborations at the research level.”
After Biolatam 2013, Praxis Pharmaceutical, a company specializing in manufacturing and development for third parties as well as in marketing of specialized pharmaceutical products for the treatment of orphan and low-incidenceindications, launched sales of Epiprot in Colombia. The company has also established its own commercial network in Colombia.
